![]() You should use the same thoughts with your Phone, but keep in mind that you may have even more personal information on the Phone then you would on your PC. If you don't trust an application to install it on your PC, you wouldn't install it. It is no different if I install an application on Windows/Linux/OSX, the application will have access to every file on the system that I have access to. You have to remember that these devices are not Phones, they are computers that make phone calls. There has been some "fuss" lately about ios having access to your pictures and other data on the device. For example this could be images from wallpaper app, or if the app is used to backup your sms messages for you, or even a podcast app needs to save the mp3 file to the sdcard. ![]() Giving it modify/write permissions will allow the application to create, edit, or delete files.ĩ9.9% of the time this is so the application can do things like save data to the sdcard. Even if the application does not have this permission it will still be able to read from the contents of the sdcard. its just a PITA.It means that an application can read/write to the entire contents of your sdcard. for that I would have to manually move it. Dont get me wrong, I can still have dropsync pull, but only to internal card. Dropsync will automatically schedule and do it for me.but NOT direcly to the SD card unless its rooted. I can manually pull a file from dropbox and copy it to the SD card. can you still not have a rouge process or app running in memory. Once it says read and write, then it should delete. If you can't do that, click the little lock on the bottom right, enter your password and try to change your permission to read/write. click the privilege and make sure it says read & write. Everybody "says" security, but its not clear to me what the quote "security issue is". At the bottom is an option for permissions. I agree with you, I'm not sure what the though process was for not allowing end users to Write and manage their data directly on an SD card. ![]() I then use Dropsync on the various device to "pull" data where needed. In this example I use Dropbox as a central storage to keep data. To provide a little more detail, I'm an IT consultant and I have several machines (laptop/servers) devices, phone/tablets, etc that I use. To answer your question, the data is irrelevant as it can be anything from, pictures, movies, contracts, drivers, software, etc. but I think this is my only option so far.Īny other thoughts and ideas are welcome. Kind of like a "file watcher" for those tech people out there. I can still use Dropsync to pull from the cloud directly to the internal memory card, if I can find an app that will sync from the internal memory to the SD. In the Title I used Dropsync because that is what I used on my ROOTED Note 2 to pull from the cloud directly to the SD card. folder/files from a folder on the memory card to the SD card (NOT Bidirectional)ģ. Is there an app that will "sync/move etc. My objective is to Store/move data from the internal memory to the SD card until a root method is developed.Ģ. Having said that I have a few questions that I have not been able to find an answer for.ġ. I am on Verizon and to my knowledge (please correct me if I'm wrong), there is no root method for Verizon as of yet. As we already know we are unable to unless the unit is Rooted. ![]() Task: I picked up a Note 4 a week or so ago and I'm trying to regain write access to the SD Card.
